Voice of the guru
Kabir's mystic dohas translated:
“The wise Guru’s voice is being heard —
from the vast sky, words begin to appear.”
First came the Nฤda-Bindu —
the primal sound, the luminous point —
born amidst the ether’s waters,
those subtle, formless currents of creation.
These divine waters fill all vessels,
flowing as the sacred speech
of the Alakha Puruแนฃa —
the Unknowable One, the Nameless.
This wisdom descended from There —
was known, recorded, and shared.
It quenched the thirst of the seeker.
But alas!
Leaving behind Amแนta, the nectar of truth,
you ran after the Vishayas — the poisons of the senses.
Now behold!
The noose of desire has encircled your neck.
A cow of Guru’s speech emerged from the heavens,
and spilled her curds upon the earth.
The saints churned it and savored the butter of essence,
while the common folk
rejoiced only in the thin whey that remained.
A centre without support appeared in the sky.
A lake without water shimmered there.
The sky itself began to melt —
thus spoke the Guru’s voice.
Echoes of “Aham” (I am) and “Soham” (I am That)
resound throughout the Trikuแนญi —
the mystic triangle of the ฤjรฑฤ Chakra.
The channels Ida, Piแน
galฤ, and Suแนฃumแนฤ
are brimming with light.
So says Kabir —
listen, O seeker (sฤdho!):
Know the voice of the Pathless One,
the deathless, decayless,
who watches over you day and night.
Let That — only That — be your target.
In this cosmic riddle, Kabir weaves the ineffable into sound — turning Nฤda, the first vibration, into a living Guru’s voice. He mocks the superficial, praises the essence, and beckons us inward —
from the noise of sensory indulgence to the silent fullness of realization.
The Guru-vฤแนฤซ is not a sermon but a resonance — a soundless sound (Anฤhata Nฤda) echoing in the Trikuแนญi, where seeker and Truth meet.
